Financial Aid and Government Funded Training

Financial Aid | Military Tuition Assistance | Veterans Affairs | Workforce Investment Act Funding

Financial Aid

The majority of financial aid programs such as the Pell Grant, Stafford Loan or the HOPE Grant are only available to student's attending credit courses. Since Continuing Education at Kennesaw State University does not offer credit courses, we are unable to process these traditional forms of financial aid. There are, however, a few programs available through non-profit and for-profit organizations. Each organization offers different student loan plans and features.

Before selecting a loan program, research which financing options best meets your needs. Be careful to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of each available choice as these financial program all vary in repayment timelines, APRs and more. Some additional factors to consider before financing include:

  • Investigate every financing option and program available.
  • Look for a plan that offers the most flexibility in repayments and charges a reasonable rate.
  • Borrow as little as possible.
  • Understand your personal credit history. Personal credit information can be found at the following agencies; Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union. Georgia residents can receive a free credit report from these credit agencies by calling the following numbers:
    • Equifax: 1-800-685-1111
    • Experian: 1-888-397-3742
    • Trans Union: 1-800-888-4213

Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Funding

Have you experienced a job loss due to corporate reorganization or downsizing? If so, then you may be eligible for federal training dollars. The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) is designed to assist youth and adult job seekers in becoming employable in a self-sufficient occupation of their interest, in order to meet the needs of local employers.

WIA funded training may be provided only to individuals who qualify for the program and only if funds are available.

The WIA system has created "one-stop centers" in each county, where various human service organizations are represented to assist job seekers and employers alike. Available services at no cost to customers include core services such as career counseling, exploration of training/education offerings, job search, job matching financial aid application, etc. In some instances, occupational classroom training, on-the-job training, customized training, etc., may also be available at no cost. Job seekers can access and browse occupational skills training programs approved for Individual Training Account (ITA) funding. Contact your local county Workforce Investment Board for more information.
