Welcome!Welcome from KSU@AAUP President Ulf Zimmermann:
The AAUP? Why join? AAUP@KSU has already accomplished much--we have played a leading role in bringing SHARED GOVERNANCE--serious faculty participation in University policymaking--to KSU. The resulting new Faculty Senate fully represents faculty interests on campus and the Staff Senate the interests of staff..
In 2008, the AAUP@KSU initiated the campaign to institue ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW at KSU. Then we strongly supported its implementation this year. The result: faculty evaluations of all line administrators (chairs, deans, provost)--with results publicly available.
So why join? There's much left to be done: Salary compression desperately needs to be reversed. Gender and promotional inequities need to be examined and rectified. The value of service needs to be energetically reasserted. The contingent faculty needs our support--helping them will make things better for all faculty.
Check out the new, more equitable membership dues--if you're interested in any of these issues, it'll be more affordable for you to join us in taking them on."
