 Graduate Policies and Curriculum Committee, and the Senate. 

APPROVED UNDERGRADUATE POLICIES AND CURRICULUM COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS: 
These approvals will be reflected in the 2004-2005 Undergraduate Catalog and the 2003-2004 on-line 
catalog (Spring 2004 updates); copies are on file in the Office of Academic Affairs and the Horace W. 
Sturgis Library.

School of the Arts
> B.A. in Music adds a new course to its major elective list—MUSI 3302. Vocal Literature: Musical 
 Theatre.
> B.A. in Music eliminates the ‘secondary applied’ component of the degree program for cost and delivery reasons and provide that the Bachelor of Arts voice major must take diction.
> Theatre major proposes change in name of major from Theatre to Theatre and Performance Studies. The department officially changed its name to Theatre and Performance Studies and the courses have already been revised to incorporate performance studies scholarship and perspectives.
> Department of Theatre and Performance Studies changes their course prefix from THTR to TPS. This change will take effect Summer 2004. Coles College of Business
> B.B.A. in Management adds MGT 4124-Franchise Management and MGT4210-Service Operations Management as courses that may be used as major field electives. This allows all 4000-level courses offered by the Management and Entrepreneurship Department to be used as Major Field Electives.
> B.B.A. in Professional Sales makes MKTG 4750 Advanced Selling a required course for the major. This change increases the major field requirements from 15 to 18 credit hours, thereby reducing the required field electives from nine credit hours to six credit hours. > Correction made in Human Services concentration name to Human Services Case Management.
> HS 4490 -Special Topics to Human Services Case Management Concentration is added to Human Services Case Management concentration. College of Humanities and Social Sciences > A new Bachelor of Arts in Modern Language and Culture degree is being offered through the Department of Foreign Languages. This degree contains two major field options (French or Spanish) and four concentration options – (I. Second Language and Culture, II. Foreign Language Education, III. Applied Business, or IV. Cross-Disciplinary Perspectives.) This new B.A. program replaces the previous B.A. programs in French and Spanish and the B.S. Foreign Language Education programs in French and Spanish that are being discontinued (see discontinuation of degree programs below). This new program is pending final approval from the Board of Regents’.

Master of Education in Educational Leadership > Transfer Credit policy is changed to read as follows “Graduate courses taken at other accredited institutions must be evaluated and approved by the program coordinator or department chair. A maximum of nine semester hours of transfer credit (with grades of B or better) may be applied toward a degree program. No courses will be accepted for transfer credit if they are more than five years old at the time of evaluation. Transfer credit includes all course work accepted into the M.Ed. program prior to admission in full standing (maximum nine semester hours), whether earned at another institution or at Kennesaw State University.”
> EDL 6980. Practicum in the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership program is changed from the 5 credit hours (750 work hours) to 2 credit hours (300 work hours). This proposed change frees up time for program participants to work on portfolio development, yet still meet the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) standard (minimum of 150 work hours of practicum experience of leadership program participants).
> EDL 6980. Practicum for the Add-on Program in Educational Leadership is changed from 3 credit hours (450 work hours) to 2 credit hours (300 work hours). This proposed change frees up time for program participants to work on portfolio development, yet still meet the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) standard (minimum of 150 work hours of practicum experience of leadership program participants). - Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a 2.75 grade point average.
- A minimum combined score of 900 on the verbal and quantitative portions with a 3.5 minimum score on the analytical writing section of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or a combined score of 450 on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT);

PRWR 6450. FINAL ACTIONS ON RECOMMENDATIONS FOR UNIVERSITY SENATE ACTIONS-SPRING 2003:
The final version of the Senate Resolution, which includes the Diversity Statement reads as follows: Whereas, Kennesaw State University is committed to serving our increasingly diverse community, and Whereas, a number of different bodies on campus are working to address diversity issues, and Whereas, conflicting definitions for diversity may cause confusion and inability to implement the university’s diversity related goals, We acknowledge the work conducted by the Diversity in the Curriculum Committee in Academic Affairs to develop a comprehensive diversity definition and instructional diversity mission statement, which reads as follows: Diversity Statement The KSU population reflects differing backgrounds and experiences including but not limited to age, disability, ethnicity, family structure, gender, geographic region, language, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. It is our goal to foster a community in which every human being is treated with dignity, respect, and justice. The KSU experience will provide the opportunity to gain knowledge and experiences necessary to thrive in a diverse, global environment and we further support the publication of this statement on KSU web pages and the use of the definition in all diversity-related work of the university and its various constituent bodies.
