and Curriculum Committee and the Graduate Policies and
                Curriculum Committee.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

copies are on file in the Office of Academic Affairs and the Horace W.
Sturgis Library.

* Clarification of Existing Policy *

sentence at the end of the first paragraph: “Students enrolled in the
Accelerated Bachelor’s-Master’s program must contact the Registrar or
the Graduate Dean to determine eligibility.”

School of the Arts
> Major in Art, B.F.A. includes Theater Performance Art course (THTR 3493)
among the Art History electives in the Upper Division Major Requirements.
> Major in Music Performance, B.M. makes several changes including 1) providing necessary requirements for the various concentrations by ‘tracks’ so as to present and reflect the various idiosyncrasies with clarity and consistency. This will eliminate many advisement errors by both students and faculty advisors. 2) Add a ‘language’ component for VOICE concentration majors only so as to prepare them better for graduate school admissions. 3) Eliminate ‘secondary applied’ study from the degree program and replace it with necessary class piano in appropriate ‘tracks’ and provide the PIANO ‘track’ with appropriate pedagogy and piano literature study in place of class piano study. For Performance majors currently there is no Class Piano study at all in the degree program and this study is necessary for accreditation by NASM. Bagwell College of Education >Middle grades education majors who concentrate their study in science will be required to take BIOL 2107 Biological Principles I rather than BIOL 2108 Biological Principles II. This course will be required in the Teaching Field rather than in Area F, where BIOL 2108 was required. CHEM 1151/1151L will be required in Area F, instead of in the Teaching Field where it is currently listed as a requirement.
> Middle grades education majors will be required to take the new course EDUC 2202, Life Span Development: Adolescent & Young Adulthood Emphasis, rather than EDUC 2204 Human Growth, Development, and Learning. Both courses are life span development courses. EDUC 2202, however, will emphasize the development issues of adolescent learners including a discussion of development leading up to and progressing from adolescence. Middle grades and secondary education majors will be required to take this course. P-12 education majors may take this course or EDUC 2204.
> Middle grades education and secondary majors will no longer be required to take EDUC 3310 Multicultural Education. SCED 4415, SSED 4413, MAED 4416, and ENED 4414 credit hours are increased from 7 to 9 hours to absorb the content of EDUC 3310.
> MATH 4495, Exploration of Secondary Mathematics from an Advanced Perspective is added to the Teaching Field requirements for the B.S. in Mathematics Education.
>A new course ARED 3310 Multiculturalism and Cross-cultures in Art Education replaces EDUC 3310 under Professional Education (P-12) requirements for Art Education major. College of Humanities and Social Sciences > International Affairs Major makes the following changes:
