As a faculty member and a proud alumna (Class of '89) of Kennesaw State, I am excited that you are considering sending your son/daughter to our university. You will find that while we are truly an "institution on the move". First-year students face a number of challenges as they transition from high school to college. KSU has developed a number of special programs just for first-year students to help them successfully make the transition. We teach KSU 1101, our first-year seminar course, and we offer KSU 1102 learning communities. It also helps to promote attendance and completion of assignments, two areas where some of our first-year students struggle. Learning communities are very successful in helping students succeed academically and connect to our campus socially. I look forward to talking with you and your student at orientation and telling you more about KSU 1101 and KSU 1102! Until then, enjoy learning more about my alma mater and rest assured that you and your son/daughter are making a fabulous choice. Keisha L. Hoerrner,
Ph.D. Director |
