The blended spirit of these advance track sessions seek to illustrate the shared enrollment practices and interactions between Admissions and Records operations and how they may be influenced by campus governance, reporting, pricing thresholds, budgets or scholarship implications. Each advance track session will be presented by single or joint speakers and/or panels representing both admissions and records. These sessions vary from year to year, but address current topics of interest to benefit experienced professionals.

The GISEM curriculum is intended to help participants recognize graduated levels of Enrollment Service Offices or Enrollment Management models. Traditional models include:

- Decentralized offices/silos reporting to different dean, VPs or President
- Centralized ES offices reporting to one dean or VP housed with Student Affairs
- Centralized ES offices functioning as "one stop shops" reporting to one dean or VP
- Centralized ES offices with an EM faculty partnership or Committee reporting to one dean or VP

The most advance of these models are tightly coupled configurations that involve faculty/academic participation, support and buy-in to create the best enrollment management outcomes.

Fundamental Institute Pedagogy

The GISEM Committee has identified best practices that drive a set of common core curriculum elements which support a universal strategic enrollment management framework for instructional staff development.  It is the institute intent to include all elements over a two year institute cycle. See element descriptions below.

Introduction Session I A

This session is designed for newcomers to review institute expectations, requirements and program content. It includes the introduction of Enrollment Management Models and emphasizes the importance of field visits with peer review responsibilities.

Peer Review Session I B

This session is designed as a rich discussion forum for networking returning members to review field visits regarding findings. Additionally, it is designed as an exercise to contrast the existence or absence of Enrollment Management dynamics that may or may not be in place in a variety of locations.

Guest Consultant

This session is designed to expose GISEM attendees to state of the art trends, expertise and in-service national talent. (Industry expert or recognized veteran) It is intended to offer GISEM access to consultant resources that may otherwise not be available to individual "place bound" members without the support of this institute.

Legislative

This content field is intended to offer timely updates, issues, regulations and topics of national conversation that impact Enrollment Officers. Additionally, it reminds practitioners that they must have a voice in local campus "policy developments and participate in political cultures relating to enrollment dynamics. (State, Federal, Boards, Accreditations, FERPA, campus standards, Professional Associations)

Technology

This content field is intended to offer topics on state of the art software, hardware, installations, implementations, evaluations, operations and innovative applications that improve enrollment service outcomes regarding legacy and vendor solutions. (Data management, EMT, SIS and WEB/internet dynamics, auxiliary systems will be featured)

Personnel and Process Management

This content field is intended to showcase topics of enterprise operations regarding leadership, staffing, training, customer service and the foundational fabric of systems that must be orchestrated to successfully conduct an effective Enrollment Management unit. (Data processing, Workflow, Budget, Systems, Marketing, Communications, Calendars and Financial Aid will be the core of presentation.)

Student Marketing, Counseling and Retention Strategies

This content field is intended to address proven student marketing principles and current trends in the spirit of recruiting and enrolling students.  (Topics will include demographics, retention, price point leveraging, forecasting, screening, advising, admitting, registering, graduation, yields, conversions, ethics, good practices, tracking, and student success.)

Peer Reviews

This requirement is intended as a two fold objective. The first is to deploy GISEM participants to sister institution campuses in order to observe first hand operations with colleagues. The second objective is to audit prescribed operations as noted on the field visit form and then prepare a peer review report that summerizes the visit with findings. The report should attempt to identify the type of Enrollment Management model and mention strengths and weaknesses found in the visit. A copy of the report must be returned to the host and a copy submitted to the GISEM Chair to complete the field requirement.
