CAREER:
My career has spanned almost thirty years in higher education with roles as diverse as Director of Institutional Research to Vice Provost to Director of Admissions. I joined the University of Georgia in 1995 after 15 years at Tulane University and two years as a consultant to higher education and other nonprofit organizations. As a co-founder of the Pragma Group, LLC, I have worked with a private K-12 school, managed a collaborative grant focused on improving public education and provided enrollment management expertise to several universities. Currently I serve as the Director of Admissions and head of Enrollment Management for a 33,000 student body campus. I am responsible for enrolling approximately 5000 new first year students annually and 2000 new transfer students. The 50 staff member Office of Admissions also manages the awarding of merit aid and reenrollment of former students and transfer evaluation of all undergraduate courses taken elsewhere. New Student Orientation is under the umbrella of the office, annually providing 13,000 individuals (students and parents) with the knowledge to assist their transition to college.
Professional Development:
Memberships' in the national admission organizations have provided me with knowledge and networks. In my career I have served as the Associate Editor for the journal for the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), Planning, served on numerous panels and presentations for SCUP and as a pre-conference presenter. Most of these presentations focused on budgeting and price discounting in higher education. My association with the College Board has allowed me to serve on several national committees, including the Trustees Committee on Membership and the Guidance and Admissions Committee, as well as to serve on the program committee for two national forums. I have presented panels and presentations for many national and regional meetings of the College Board, usually with a focus on the Legal Environment of Admissions and Non-Traditional Student Admissions. I have also held membership in the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC) and in the Southern ACAC and in the Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, (AACRAO), and in the Southern and Georgia AACRAOs.
Education:
Following receipt of a BBA in marketing and management from Loyola University, I received my MBA in finance and organizational behavior from Tulane University. I received scholarships for my undergraduate degree, finishing cum laude and attended Tulane part time while I worked for the university. In 1992 I attended the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard. As a life long learner, I appreciate the chance to be part of a university community with all of the learning opportunities that it provides.
Personal:
My husband is a member of the faculty at the Tull School of Accounting at UGA and between us we have three children, two sons-in-law and four of the brightest, most beautiful grandchildren known. When we are not in Athens, or babysitting, we love to travel, especially to Italy. We both enjoy cooking, reading and snow skiing when the opportunity occurs.
