Admissions Scholar

Admission Scholars are among the highest caliber students at KSU. Credentials submitted by these traditional freshmen are highly competitive and indicated the high potential to succeed.

KSU recognizes the top 5% of freshmen entering each fall through a special recognition program.  The qualifications for and benefits of this special recognition program is found at the KSU Admissions Scholar Program web pages.

Consideration is automatic for those traditional freshman students in the top 5% of the fall freshmen class of accredited high schools.

The KSU Admissions Scholar Program is an outreach effort to recruit outstanding freshman students.  The KSU Admissions Scholar is designed to recognize those traditional high school students placing in the top 5% of the fall freshmen class. Students in this elite cohort score a 1200 total or greater on the SAT (or equivalent ACT) verbal and mathematics (essay not included) and earn an academic 3.5 GPA or greater in college bound courses.

KSU University Admissions identifies these candidates by May of each year and invites them to a special orientation program. At the Student Scholars Orientation Program, recognition is bestowed and information is provided concerning scholarships, study abroad options, student leadership opportunities, and the academic honors program.

Aside from the special recognition at the orientation program, a priority registration time is given to Student Scholars for fall and spring semesters.
