How to Enroll

1. Beat the clock
Apply early and well before posted deadlines.
Students should research costs, location, deadlines, residency and requirements. First time freshmen should use the "Freshmen Admission Predictor" to determine the probability of acceptance. Transfers and others should research admission requirements for their particular classification prior to submitting an application.

New incoming freshman must provide:
Application and $40 processing fee
Official high school transcript
Official SAT/ACT scores

2. Apply On-line
Apply on line at least one term in advance.

A file will not go into review until it is complete. Once a file is released for evaluation it takes about 10 working days for a decision. Tentative actions are posted on the web immediately and an official letter is mailed once the action is validated. However, depending on the season, reviews can take several weeks as a result of deadline activity and registrations.

3. Get organized
Have all official documents
(transcripts and test scores) mailed directly from your high school, college, university, institution or agency to University Admissions before deadlines. An immunization for measles, mumps and rubella must be mailed to the KSU Health Clinic before registration.

4. College Entrance Examination
Kennesaw State University prefers the SAT, but will accept the ACT. Scores from the ACT are converted to SAT equivalents. However, SAT scores and ACT may not be mixed. If a student has multiple sets of scores (multiple SAT or multiple ACT), KSU Admissions will select the highest mathematics and highest verbal to give the applicant the best combination, but not mixing SAT and ACT together.

KSU uses the following institutional number from the Educational Testing Service and College Entrance Examination Board.

The SAT instititional code is 5359.

KSU uses the following code from the American College Testing Service.

The ACT instititional code is 0833.

Visit http://www.kennesaw.edu/academicaffairs/acadpubs/UCATINDX.html/ to view the catalog.

*All entering freshmen living on campus in the residence halls are required to take a Community for Learning And SucceSs (C.L.A.S.S.) learning community. These communities consist of two to four courses and typically have a section of KSU 1101 (Freshman Seminar) and 1 to 3 core curriculum courses. There are communities designed for specific majors as well as for any major. Students not living on campus but attending full-time are required to take either KSU 1101 or 1102. More information can be found at the University Studies department web site ( http://www.kennesaw.edu/university_studies/ ).

**The first math course is determined by the major. Students should go to the following web site ( http://placement.kennesaw.edu ) and take the Mathematics Advising and Placement Test (MAPT) to determine which math courses is recommended. Math, science, computer science and business majors should start with at least Math 1111 or higher. Other majors can start with the math course recommended by the MAPT. Students required to take the COMPASS math exam (see tip # 2 above) should not take the MAPT but rather log in to Owl Express and sign up for the COMPASS Exam.

***Students majoring in the sciences or computer science should contact the appropriate academic department for advising regarding critical courses needed in the first semester.

NOTE: A full load on the semester system is 12 or more credit hours. To stay on the four year plan attending only fall and spring semesters a student needs to take 15 hours each semester.
