Non-traditional Adult Learner Students

Nontraditional freshmen are those students who meet the following criteria:

    1. Have been out of high school at least five years and whose high school class graduated at least five years ago.
    2. Hold a high school diploma from an accredited or approved high school as specified in BOR policy section 402.0101 or have satisfactorily completed the GED.
    3. Have earned fewer than 30 transferable semester credit hours.

Applicants eligible for review in this category are exempt from the SAT/ACT and College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) requirements. However, adult learners students admitted in this category will be required to take at no charge the University System of Georgia's Collegiate Placement Exam or COMPASS examination. Test results may place the applicant in the Learning Support program for extra non-degree course work in reading, writing and mathematics skills.

As an alternative, non-traditional freshmen applicants who have, within the past seven years, posted SAT scores of at least 500 in both Verbal (Critical Reading) and Mathematics or ACT scores of at least 21 on both English and Mathematics will will be allowed to exempt the CPE/COMPASS placement test upon receipt by KSU of the official test scores from the testing service.

PREVIEW Session

The focus of PREVIEW is a dedicated program for the adult learner who wishes to start or resume a degree program. The program is 90 minutes that will address adult first time freshmen, transfers, readmits and graduate admission interests on eligibility and the application process. Some faculty will be available to discuss academic programs.

The ninety-minute program will include information about KSU Admissions requirements, academic program highlights, and Financial Aid. All information will be targeted to Adult, Nontraditional students.

If you are an adult student considering college for the first time or seeking transfer admission to complete a degree PREVIEW is for you.

PREVIEW starts at 7:00 PM and is heldat the KSU Center, Room 400, (a financial aid session will be available from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM).
