| APD Day 2007
Administrative Professional Day is
a day designed specifically for Administrative Staff which is
recognized annually on the last Wednesday in April. On April 25,
2007 Kennesaw held their Administrative Professional Day
Celebration. This event was sponsored by the President’s Office,
where Dr. Papp, President of KSU, recognized Administrative
Associates for their hard work, dedication, and formally thanked
each staff member for their great service to the University.
Guests were greeted at the door by members of the President’s
cabinet, College Deans and other volunteers who assisted in
pinning each guest with an orchid corsage as a small token of
appreciation during this celebratory event. The program began
with a continental breakfast followed by Dr. Papp’s opening
remarks and introduction of our guest speaker, Dr. Earl Suttle,
CEO and founder of the Three E Corporation. Dr. Suttle presented
an energetic motivational speech geared towards how attitude
determines our overall success. After the opening session guests
had the opportunity to attend rotating break-out sessions. These
sessions included discussions on topics such as Conflict
Management: How to Deal with Difficult Situations, 7 Habits of
Highly Effective People, and Dream Analysis: Empowering a Better
You! Breakout sessions were held for one hour. Having rotating
sessions allowing each guest to participate in their choice of
two topics. At the conclusion of the second rotating sessions,
the program came to a close at 12:15 pm. Keynote Speaker
Dr. Earl Suttle is the CEO and
founder of the Three E Corporation, an international training
company based in Atlanta, GA, that specializes in helping
businesses and organizations increase their profits and
productivity through developing their employees. He earned his
Doctorate in Addiction Studies from International University for
Graduate Studies.
As
a business consultant and dynamic entertaining keynote
professional speaker, Dr. Suttle delivers nearly 100
presentations throughout the year in the United States and South
Africa. He is the coauthor of two books, with Dr. John Hubbard,
“Earl’s Pearls on Enjoying Excellence” and “Preparing for and
Managing High-Risk Situations in the Lives of College Athletes
(An Athlete’s Guide)”. Both books have been receiving rave
reviews. He also has produced a number of CDs and DVD’s on
leadership, professional, and personal development. “Empowerment
through education and enthusiasm” is the mission statement of
his company.
He has conducted keynotes addresses and seminars for many
corporations such as AFLAC Insurance, BellSouth Corporation,
Delta Air Lines, The Coca-Cola Company, American Express,
Kimberly-Clark Corporation, United States Postal Service, Kraft
Foods, The Hartford Insurance Group, Wachovia Bank, The Atlanta
Life Insurance Company, Georgia D epartment of Labor, Cobb EMC,
Anheuser-Busch Companies, The University of Miami, The
University of Georgia, Bartow County Government, and many more.
Dr. Suttle is also a consultant to the National Basketball
Association (NBA) and National Football League (NFL).
He is married to Dr. Felicia Mabuza-Suttle, who started the
first TV audience talk show concept in South Africa. She is
currently President of South Africa Tourism-USA. Earl and his
wife have been featured on CNN and in Ebony Magazine. Dr. Suttle
is the proud father of one son, Darron, two daughters Lindi and
Zani, and two grandchildren. He also has a wonderful
daughter-in-law, Alisa.

This overview served as an introduction to the 7 Habits Program.
Participants were able to learn about the opportunity for
personal and professional transformation through greater
productivity, increased influence in key relationships, stronger
team unity, and complete life balance that fosters inner peace.

Conflict
Management: How to Handle Difficult Situations
University Room C
This session talked about skills used to diffuse a difficult
situation and ways to build rapport with someone who is upset or
angry. It also utilized the practice of reframing and
rephrasing.
