| APD Day 2008
Administrative Professional Day is
a day designed specifically for Administrative Staff which is
recognized annually on the last Wednesday in April. On April 23,
2008 Kennesaw held their Administrative Professional Day
Celebration. This event was sponsored by the President’s Office,
where Dr. Papp, President of KSU, recognized Administrative
Associates for their hard work, dedication, and formally thanked
each staff member for their great service to the University. Keynote Speaker
Jennifer B. Kahnweiler, Ph.D.
speaks to leaders and aspiring leaders on how to strengthen
their people skills in the workplace. She is also a well
respected career coach and a sought after media expert on
workplace issues.

Dr. Kahnweiler has served in human
resource consulting positions at General Electric, The U.S.
Department of Education and Manchester Consulting. Her clients
include the American Management Association, Capital One, Turner
Broadcasting, AT&T, the Coca-Cola Company and Duke Energy. She
recently taught an invited management seminar series in Tokyo,
which focused on sharing Western business practices with
Japanese businesswomen.
Her forthcoming book is Shy
I.Q.: People Skills for Introverted Leaders (Berrett-Koehler).
She also co-wrote Shaping Your HR Role: Succeeding in Today's
Organizations (Elsevier, 2005), created and wrote the
Advisor column for AARP The Magazine, and is a
regular blog contributor to the Atlanta Journal
Constitution/Yahoo Hot Jobs website. In her media role, Jennifer
was a “makeover expert” on the WTBS television show “Movie and a
Makeover,” where she successfully advised a homemaker
transitioning back to work She is also frequently quoted in the
Wall Street Journal, the New York Times,
Chicago Tribune and Washington Post.
Dr. Kahnweiler earned her Ph.D. in
Counseling and Human Systems from Florida State University and
received her Master's degree in Counseling and Bachelor's degree
in Sociology from Washington University, St. Louis. In addition
to holding Master Career Counselor (MCC) and Licensed
Professional Counselor (LPC) certifications, she has served on
the boards of both the National Career Development Association (NCDA)
and the Georgia Executive Women’s Network (GEWN).
In 2005, Jennifer was awarded the
Outstanding Career Practitioner of the Year by the
National Career Development Association and has been deemed a
world class expert by the American Management Association.
She is a member of the National Speakers Association and a
founding member of the Leadership Executive Circle of the
Women’s Leadership Exchange. Jennifer mentors rising female
leaders in the community and finds her work as a volunteer ESL
tutor especially rewarding.
