The KSU chapter of Alpha Psi Omega (a national honor society for theatre) welcomes students from all four concentrations of the theatre and performance studies program at Kennesaw State University: design, performance (dramaturgy, storytelling and performance art), musical theatre and acting. The purpose of Alpha Psi Omega is to encourage interest in theatre activities at KSU and provide all the advantages and mutual helpfulness provided by a large national honor society.
Assistant Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies Jane Barnette is APO’s new adviser. She enthusiastically explains that “this year has been a year of re-structuring for the KSU Chapter of Alpha Psi Omega. We recently held a re-launch meeting” to bring new life to the group.
APO has a full and exciting schedule of events this year, including New Works and Ideas; a fall picnic for theatre and performance studies students, staff and ; and a theatre and performance studies awards ceremony honoring those involved
with the department who are nominated by APO. Most often, students in APO are involved in the house management of KSU productions. For next year, there are plans to take a trip to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival to provide students with the

opportunity experience theatre outside of metro Atlanta.
Jason Royal, the webmaster of Kennesaw State’s chapter’s Web site (www.coastermania.com), has been part of Alpha Psi Omega for two years now. Jason says that “since my freshman year, it has been an honor to be a part of APO. These days I keep up with the website and the group bulletin board that recognizes students and keeps them posted on new events.”
Undoubtedly, the KSU chapter of Alpha Psi Omega offers an excellent opportunity for students and to connect and interact with the theatre community here in KSU and elsewhere.
