Associate Professor of Visual Arts Valerie Dibble, Professor of Music Oral Moses and Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies Ming Chen were recognized at the 2009 Kennesaw State University Awards ceremony on Aug. 12.

Valerie Dibble was the recipient of a Tommy and Beth Holder Award. The award was established in 2008 and this year was the first that funds were actually awarded. The award is intended to identify and recognize academic excellence and support innovative initiatives for enhancing and expanding both undergraduate and graduate course studies. The award is given to seven members, one representing each college. Dibble will use the money from her award to help implement the new printmaking concentration by bringing in experts to conduct workshops in silligraphy, solarplate relief prints and digital four-color separation; attending a summer session at Rochester Institute of Technology; and attending the Southern Graphics Conference in Philadelphia in spring 2010.

Oral Moses was the recipient of the KSU Foundation Prize for Publications or Creative Activity for his CD recording, “Songs of America.” This Foundation Prize was established in 2003 by the Board of Trustees as a means to encourage, support and recognize scholarly activities among tenure-track . The award honors one member in each college of the university. Moses received $5,000 in cash and a $5,000 development stipend.

Each year, the Foundation also recognizes individual outstanding contributions in the areas of professional service, scholarship and creative activity, and teaching through Distinguished Awards. Ming Chen was the 2009 recipient of the College of the Arts Distinguished Scholarship and Creative Activity Award. With that award, she was eligible for the university-wide 2009 Foundation Distinguished Scholarship and Creative Activity Award. Selected as one of three finalists, she received a $500 cash award and a professional development stipend of $1,000.
