The KSU Program in Dance is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2009-10 Outstanding Senior Dance Scholarships. On the recommendation of the Dance Awards Committee, Dean Joseph Meeks awarded the scholarships this year to Shawn Evangelista and Greer Yarborough who achieved high merit in the areas of academics, artistry and service to the program and the KSU Dance Company. This new scholarship is the first of its kind in the recently launched Bachelor of Arts degree program in dance at KSU.

According to Ivan Pulinkala, director of the Program in Dance, “Shawn Evangelista and Greer Yarborough have established an exemplary record as both dance scholars and artists in our program. I am grateful for the financial support we received from the Dean’s office that enabled us to recognize these two deserving students. We hope that this award will serve as an impetus for other students to strive for excellence and achieve high merit within our program.”

The Program in Dance also offers a number of freshman incentive scholarships through the annual summer dance clinic that is held in the month of June every year. This year, the Program in Dance awarded 11 Freshmen Incentive Scholarships and two Outstanding Senior Scholarships supported by funding from the KSU Foundation and the Summer Dance Clinic.
