KENNESAW, Ga.—The Kennesaw State University Department of Theatre and Performance Studies will present a night of performance poetry, including four-time winner of the National Poetry Slam, Taylor Mali. This event will be head at 8 p.m. on Sept. 14 and 15 in the Howard Logan Stillwell Theater.
New York City native Taylor Mali has been featured on HBO and in several documentaries. Before beginning his career as a slam poet, Mali was a high school teacher, which serves as a point of inspiration for several of his poems and one-man shows.
Mali will perform on Sept. 14, along with Chezon Jackson. Jackson is known as the “mother poet” and is widely acclaimed for her inspirational performances. KSU student poet Dru Jamieson will also perform on Friday night.
Mali will perform again on Sept. 15. Sharing the stage with Mali on Saturday will be Atlanta slam poet Ayodele Heath, another National Poetry Slam winner. KSU student poet Andrew Puckett will also perform.
