KSU Director of Instrumental Education John Culvahouse was recently elected as the president of the National Band Association for the 2010-2012 biennium. “This is significant for the university and for the School of Music,” he said. “It’s quite an honor for me to be elected.” He will also serve as the first vice president/president elect for the 2008-2010 biennium.
Charles F. Schwartz, interim director of the KSU School of Music, said Culvahouse “will be joining a very prestigious group of presidents.” He also thanked Culvahouse for “taking on this national responsibility and bringing the name of Kennesaw State University to such a large audience of eminent directors.”
The National Band Association was founded in 1960 and is the largest professional organization of band directors in the world. The organization promotes the musical and educational significance of bands and is dedicated to the attainment of a high level of excellence for bands and band music.
