This Steinway Concert D piano will dedicated to Mary Elizabeth Bailey by Dr. Bobbie Bailey.
Dr. Bobbie Bailey and Dean of the KSU College of the Arts Joseph Meeks. The event will also feature a jazz combo performance by KSU students.
Why:
This piano was handpicked at the Steinway & Sons Gallery in New York by Dean Joseph Meeks and Dr. Bobbie Bailey last month. This is the college’s fourth Steinway concert piano, but only the second Model D (9’) piano. It will be the primary piano for use in the Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center, which officially opens on Saturday, Oct. 6. The piano is valued at $86,000.
In the future, the College of the Arts hopes to become an All-Steinway School, which would require a total of 29 Steinway pianos. Only two other All-Steinway Schools exist in Georgia.
