"Year of Turkey Day" will highlight Turkish culture

Kennesaw State University will officially kick off its celebration of the Year of Turkey with an opening ceremony at the Legacy Gazebo Amphitheater at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8. The event is free.
Highlights of the ceremony will include special guests Turkish Minister of Foreign Trade Kursad Tuzmen and Ambassador to the United States Nabi Sensoy. The event will also include a preview of the Oct. 11 Janissary (Mehter) Band performance and Turkish folktales performed by the KSU Tellers. Guests also will enjoy a selection of traditional Turkish foods.
Turkey is the latest focus of the university's Annual Country Studies Program. Throughout the academic year, the university will offer a series of lectures, forums, classes and events focused on the historically rich land. The Country Studies program was launched in 1985.
