KENNESAW, Ga.— Kennesaw State University has hired its first performance hall manager, Bobby Asher, for the concert hall located within the newly opened Dr. Bobbie Bailey and Family Performance Center. As the performance hall manager, Asher’s responsibilities include overseeing the scheduling of concerts and events as well as making the Bailey Center a welcoming resource for audiences and performers. Asher’s previous position was assistant manager at Clayton State University’s Spivey Hall.
“I’m honored to be chosen as the first manager of the performance hall,” said Asher. “This is an exciting time to be a part of the KSU arts community, and I look forward to helping make the performance hall a place where our students can learn and perform.”
Asher earned a bachelor of arts in music and began his career in arts administration as the jazz lab manager at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. He also worked at the Columbia Theatre at Southeastern Louisiana University during the devastating period after Hurricane Katrina.
“Bobby’s story about life in the Columbia Theatre after the hurricane is a powerful testament to the healing ability of the arts in times of upheaval,” said chair of the KSU Department of Music Peter Witte. “With Bobby’s arrival to KSU, the Bailey Performance Center is poised to serve art, Kennesaw State and our community in meaningful ways.”
Asher begins serving as performance hall manager on November 1.
