While many of us were watching the peach drop in Buckhead, Professor of Art Lin Hightower was having an altogether different kind of experience: she welcomed the New Year by meeting with the official "sharif" of Ephesus, Turkey—Clyde the Camel.
This colorful and amusing "audience" was part of a visit with a much more serious purpose—setting up Kennesaw State University's first study abroad program in Turkey. Students who choose to participate may take a special topics course about the "Visual Arts of Turkey" and/or a studio art course.
During her New Year trip, Hightower set up accommodations and transportation. She also met with artists who will share their studios and experiences with the KSU students.
The trip is scheduled for May 29 through June 24. Only 10 spaces are available; the deadline for application is Feb. 1.
For more details, visit the KSU Study Abroad page or download the poster (PDF).
