KSU honors Gwendolyn Halstead Brooker
Longtime Friend of the Arts receives President's Award

During the Kennesaw State University President's Dinner on May 7, 2010, KSU President Daniel S. Papp (above, right) presented Gwendolyn Halstead Brooker with the President's Award in recognition of her “exemplary service” to the university, noting that her commitment, participation and leadership have had a significant impact on KSU's ability to provide strong educational opportunities for students.

In addition to providing the naming gift for the Eric & Gwendolyn Brooker Rehearsal Hall in the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center to establish a scholarship endowment for music students, Brooker volunteers her time and talents as a vocal coach and accompanist for the KSU opera theatre program.

Brooker and her late husband, Eric, began their association with the music program at KSU soon after moving to Atlanta in 1996. Brooker's professional experience includes working with the Australian Opera in Sydney and the Victorian Opera in Melbourne, the Chicago Lyric Opera, and the Chicago Opera Theatre as well as coaching many opera luminaries.
