The Kennesaw State University School of Music will present its Opera Gala on Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. in the Dr. Bailey & Family Performance Center. The program will showcase operas exclusively from the bel canto period by Italian composers Donizetti, Rossini and Bellini.
Highlights will include: “Perche mi guardi e piangi” from “Zelmira,” a very rarely performed opera of Rossini; “Angiol di pace” from “Beatrice di Tenda,” an early opera of Bellini; “Je rends a votre merel,” Rossini’s last opera—which will be sung in French—and “Septet from Il convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali” by Donizetti.
Russell Young, associate professor of music, shares, "The evening will include 10 different operas from the three composers. Performances will span a range of duets, trios, quartets and sextets."
Tickets for this event are $15. For tickets and information, contact the KSU box office at 770-423-6650 or online.
