M.J. Williams leads music improvisation workshops
Jazz artist participates in residency in the Department of Theatre, Performance Studies and Dance

Accomplished jazz musician M.J. Williams spent a week in residence in the Department of Theatre, Performance Studies and Dance leading a series of improvisation workshops (pictured) with the cast and director (Margaret Baldwin) of “The Eiffel Tower Wedding Party.” In addition, Williams collaborated with theater student Daniel Hilton to compose the play’s score.
A second-generation musician, Williams is a jazz vocalist, trombonist, improviser and composer, has performed at festivals such as New York City Women in Jazz Festival, the Bellevue Jazz Festival and the Bumbershoot Jazz Festival.
“The Eiffel Tower Wedding Party” is one of two short plays featured during “Cocteau Hour,” scheduled to run Oct. 4-9 in the Black Box Theater.
