This semester, the Kennesaw State University Program in Dance welcomed Reiko Kimura as a new interim full-time instructor of dance for the 2011-2012 academic year. Kimura has taught at Atlanta Ballet for more than 17 years and has served as the ballet mistress for the KSU Dance Company.
"Ms. Kimura is one of the most highly respected ballet instructors in the metro-Atlanta area," says Ivan Pulinkala, director of the KSU dance program. "Her experience and artistry will greatly enhance the pedagogical value of our program, as our students work with her on the re-staging of the ballet 'Paquita' this fall."
Kimura trained with the San Francisco Ballet School and began performing with the San Diego Ballet. "I am truly excited to be involved in the Program in Dance at KSU full-time this year," she says.
"I am enormously proud of how the program has grown, as well as the level of dancing that our students are reaching through their hard work and the excellent instruction that they are receiving."
Kimura has trained students who have gone on to dance professionally in the New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Nashville Ballet and on Broadway.
