Winners include a student harpist and composer
The two winners of the Kennesaw State University's 2012 Concerto Competition will be showcased with the KSU Orchestra at 8 p.m. on March 19 in the Performance Hall of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center. Student harpist Tyler Hartley and composer Johnny Bezama-Carvajal were selected as the winners of the annual competition that was held on Nov. 11.
The concert will feature Symphony #1 composed by Bezama-Carvajal as well as works by Richard Strauss and Maurice Ravel. Hartley will perform the Concerto for Harp by Fr. Adriano Boieldieu.
The annual Concerto Competition allows KSU music students the opportunity to audition and perform as concerto soloists. The KSU Orchestra is conducted by Michael Alexander, director of orchestras. Tickets for the March 19 concert are $10 and are avaliable at the KSU box office.
