What is the Kennesaw Artists Network?

The Kennesaw Artists Network (KAN) is new organization designed to help keep artists and arts supporters in every field in touch with each other. Composed primarily of students and graduates of the College of the Arts at Kennesaw State University, KAN is also open to anyone interested in supporting artists.

KAN can provide:

Robert Henry (music performance, 1999) performing

at the opening celebrations of the Bailey Performance

Center in October 2007.

Creative resources Maybe a director is looking for actors for a new play or a new gallery owner needs artists or a composer needs musicians for a premiere concert. Perhaps there is another KSU graduate who can help make your project a reality.

Re-location assistance KAN members can help each other "make it" in New York, L.A. or wherever. If you are thinking about heading to the West Coast or the Big Apple, or are trying to get into a graduate program, there may already be a KAN member who has been there and can give you tips on what you need to do.

Professional development opportunities As it becomes more organized, and we can determine what our members' needs are, the Network can organize special events or programs for members who want to start their own theaters, galleries or ensembles, or who need to know how to find representation, or who want additional training on the latest technology or techniques, or any other topic that would be useful or interesting.

Access to renowned artists and arts presenters Through its affiliation with Kennesaw State University, the Network may be able to arrange special access to the big-named artists who visit campus. Even off campus and across the country, the Network may be able to use Kennesaw's connections to help our alumni get in touch with the people you really need to know.

Opportunities to socialize with your favorite faculty members and other members Who knows how to have more fun than we do? Nobody can throw a party like us. And, as the university launches a new program to honor faculty members celebrating teaching anniversaries, who wouldn't want an opportunity to see an favorite prof like David Watkins, Ming Chen, John Gentile or Joe Meeks--all of whom will celebrate anniversaries this year.

Information exchanges Whenever KAN learns about resources or opportunities for artists, they'll be posted on the website and sent out via e-mail. Likewise, if you hear information that could be beneficial for other members, simply e-mail the details or the web link to arts@kennesaw.edu and it will be added to the site.
