Career: Having planned and studied to be a diplomat, I began my career in the
arts somewhat accidentally. After college, I needed a job and found a “temporary” one working for a nonprofit arts organization called MidSummer Macon. Three
years later, I decided to move to Atlanta, but stay in the arts, and was fortunate
enough to land at Kennesaw State. Although I enjoy all of the arts, my passion
is writing and teaching writing. I have taught everything from poetry to college
composition, to students ranging from age seven to 78. My official job, however,
is serving as the public relations coordinator for the KSU College of the Arts.

Career: Lori A. Jenkins, in search of a sense of place went back-to-the-land
in 1979 to a green forested mountain valley in Ellijay, GA, after attending
Moore Colloege of Art & Design and the Atlanta College of Art. There, she
forged new relationships with the Cohutta Mountains, Southern Appalachia and
with subsistence living. Eight years and two children later, she became an executive
director to the Gilmer Arts 7 Heritage Association in Ellijay and served on
the Community Arts Program Panel for the Georgia Council for the Arts. In 2000,
Lori enrolled in KSU's Art Education program and also accepted the position
as the executive director for the Cherokee County Arts Coucil. Graduating in
2004, she is now teaching art in Fannin County, Blue Ridge to sixth, seventh
and eighth grade students. With this new schedule, Lori also concentrates on
art making, organic gardening, and developing her rare shade plant perennial
nursery.
