Bronze Casting
On April 1, students witnessed a bronze pouring by artist-in-residence Fred Ajanogha. Using the excellent sculpture facilities available in the Visual Arts Building, Ajanogha has created three bronze figures commissioned by the Fulton County Arts Council’s Public Art Program to create three bronze figures for the H.J.C. Bowden Senior Multipurpose Facility in East Point. Ajanogha poured the molten bronze into molds he had created. After the metal cooled, the molds were broken to reveal the figures within them. They will be permanently installed at the H.J.C. Bowden Senior Multipurpose Facility in East Point. (Photo by Perry Bennett)

Kennesaw State University to present Holocaust Commemoration April 12
Sixty years ago, battle-hardened American and Allied troops encountered horrors
beyond anything they had encountered on the battlefields. As they marched through
Germany and Eastern Europe, they were met with the undeniable evidence of the
mass genocide that was the Holocaust. On April 12, the Kennesaw State University
College of the Arts will mark the anniversary of the liberation of the concentration
camps with a special Holocaust Commemoration at KSU Center, located at 3333
Busbee Parkway in Kennesaw. Presented in cooperation with the Georgia Holocaust
Commission, the event will feature art presentations and music and dance performances
to honor the victims, survivors and liberators of the Nazi concentration camps.
The event is free and open to the public.
Flock to New Exhibition
As a teenager, KSU alumnus Russell Clayton had a very interesting pen pal:
Robert Woodruff, chairman of the Coca-Cola Company, who introduced him to his
favorite artist, Athos Menaboni. Clayton was intrigued by Menaboni's work, and
began collecting his artwork. "The Collector’s Vision: Works by Athos
Menaboni from the Collection of Russell Clayton" will be on exhibition
in the Fine Arts Gallery at Kennesaw State, April 14-May 12.
Performance Opera-tunity
This spring, the College of the Arts is embarking upon a new challenge. The
theatre and performance studies and the music departments are combining students
and talents to put on two one-act comic operas. Also combining forces on this
project are faculty members from each department. "Gianni Schicchi"
and "The Old Maid and the Thief" will be presented April 19-24 in
Stillwell Theater.
