More
Than a Piano Concert
Unless
you were raised on Mozart, Grieg and Rachmaninoff, you were a
music novice the first time you attended a piano concert. Or,
perhaps you have stayed away from classical music altogether because
you were afraid it would be too stuffy or difficult to understand.
The College of the Arts has good news for you--the return of International
Steinway Artist Jeffrey Siegel's Keyboard Conversations® series
at Kennesaw State University guarantees you three opportunities
to enjoy classical music and learn about the composers, the music
and much more in a fun, comfortable environment. The three-concert
series will open with "Passions, Poetryand Popularity!"
at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in Stillwell Theater.
This concert with commentary by the artist includes Schubert's
poetic, unfinished "Sonata in C," Beethoven's "Les
Adieux" Sonata and Weber's "Invitation to the Dance."
"Jeffrey Siegel really connects with his audience,"
says Joseph Meeks, Dean of the Kennesaw State College of the Arts.
"He has a style and approach which makes it easy for people
to understand the meaning of the music--particularly people who
are just beginning to listen to classical music."
Siegel's concerts are unique in that he shares insights with each
piano piece. He carefully balances musicology with anecdotes to
please both the novice and the seasoned listener. Focusing primarily
on classical music, each Keyboard Conversations® concert concludes
with a short question-and-answer period with Siegel.
The other concerts in the series are "Lions of Lyricism"
on Jan. 18 and "The Romanticism of the Russian Soul"
on April 26.
Tickets for each concert are $20. A season subscription for all
three is $50. Faculty, staff and student discounts are available.
