In this beautiful piece, Robert Sherer explores his Southern heritage
by drawing the column top of a pre-Civil War plantation house, but,
instead of the usual icanthus leaves, he shows the seven major crops of the slave economy.
In the original work (available for bid online), the artist used blood drawn from African American volunteers (including some KSU professors) to create his ink.
No blood was used for the prints.
