Stillwell Theater & Studio Theater House Protocols
The following standards have been put in place by the College of the Arts at Kennesaw State University. They are designed to support proper performance etiquette and help provide a smooth flow for your event.
- The House will open for the audience entrance half an hour prior to the published curtain time.
- Usher training will happen inside the Stillwell Theater 75 minutes prior to curtain time and will last for approximately 15 minutes.
- As decorum dictates, we prefer for you to not break curtain (appear on stage or pass from backstage to the audience level) after house has opened for your event, and after your event to not break curtain until the house has once again been closed.
- Intermission will be 15 minutes unless otherwise specified by the artist or director.
- Patrons arriving late will be seated at the earliest convenient ‘break’ in the performance.
- The KSU Box office will open one hour prior to curtain for all ticketed events.
- At the conclusion of your event, please make every effort to immediately clear the house and conduct all conversation in the lobby area so the technicians can do necessary stage maintenance.
- No event will begin until the House Manager has officially closed the house.
- No house shall be held for more than 10 minutes past the published curtain time.
- Prior to the performance, standard calls will be made backstage, in the wings, in the green room, and in all dressing rooms. These calls will be: HOUSE OPEN – HALF HOUR | 15 MINUTES | 5 MINUTES | PLACES.
- The House Manager for the event will hold the official event time and all other offices will adjust their clocks accordingly—this will happen no later than 75 minutes prior to curtain time.
