26th Annual Student Art Exhibition

Celebrating more than a quarter century of spirited competition among KSU student artists, the 26th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition is open to all students. Entries are juried by distinguished Atlanta arts professionals, with cash prizes awarded. Many of the works are available for purchase. Opening reception: January 15, 5-8 p.m.

"Picasso at the Lapin Agile"

By Steve Martin. Directed by Jim Davis. Imagine a young Pablo Picasso meeting Albert Einstein in 1904 Paris--both geniuses on the verge of major discoveries in their respective fields of art and science. Seen through the absurd lens of comedian Steve Martin, the ensuing debates at once delight and enlighten, heralding in the major artistic and scientific shifts of the 20th century.

Showcase exhibition of the artists of the KSU Department of Visual Arts, demonstrating a wide range of media including sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, mixed media, printmaking and graphic design. Opening reception: January 27, 5-8 p.m.

KSU StoryFest

Coordinated by Hannah Harvey. Join us for two nights of storytelling by nationally known and locally grown tellers. Each evening features folktales and personal stories to delight, excite--and perhaps even fright!--performed by nationally recognized storytellers, like Gene Tagaban, and the university's own KSU Tellers. The festival also includes storytelling workshops to hone your own tale-telling talents.

Premiere Series: eighth blackbird

Featuring Double Sextet by Steve Reich and "singing in the dead of night" by David Lang, Michael Gordon and Julia Wolfe with stage direction by Susan Marshall. Pre-concert talk by Alex Ross, music critic for The New Yorker and author of "The Rest Is Noise: Listening to the Twentieth Century."

"Adumbration"

Spring Dance Concert

Directed by Ivan Pulinkala. Featuring the celebrated KSU Dance Company and world premieres of work by faculty, guest artists and students. This presentation of innovative dance promises to be packed with energy, virtuosity and dynamic movement. The work is eclectic, creative and filled with vibrant movement as the dancers transform space to bring thought-provoking contemporary works to the KSU campus.
