Name a Seat: ongoing campaign to name seats in the concert hall of the Bailey Performance Center.

  • Note lowercase “a.”
  • Note that “campaign” is not part of the complete name and, therefore, if used, should not be capitalized <The Name a Seat campaign is a fundraiser for the music department.>.

native-born (adj.): refers to someone who was born in a particular country.

  • Unhyphenated in both noun and adjectival uses.

  • Don’t precede with “12.”
  • To avoid misinterpretation, COTA style is to use “noon” or “midnight” instead of “12:00 a.m.” or “12:00 p.m.” (AP; CMS 9.43, likelihood of misinterpretation)

  • Do not superscript -st, -nd, -rd or –th.
