SUMMER ARTS INTENSIVE at Kennesaw State University June 2-7, 2013
High school students may immerse themselves an unparalleled performing arts experience at the Summer Arts Intensive at the College of the Arts at Kennesaw State University. Spend the week of June 2-7 studying acting, arts, dance, music, or musical theatre with our nationally recognized faculty while making new friends and sampling college life at the same time. At the end of this weeklong summer camp, you will showcase your achievements to your friends and family during final performances and exhibitions.
ACTING: Test your metal and immerse yourself in the actor’s craft. This five-day program is designed for students who are dedicated to the art of acting. Participants will collaborate with like-minded peers and be taught by the accomplished professional theatre artists of KSU’s award-winning performance faculty. Master classes in acting, movement, voice & speech, Shakespeare and stage combat will culminate in a final performance.
ARTS: The Visual Arts Intensive allows high school students to experience life as a college art student. The weeklong program will give you the chance to explore a variety of media such as ceramics, mixed media, drawing, software and Internet applications. You will strengthen your portfolio and enhance your creativity. At the end of the week, your work will be highlighted in a pin-up show.
DANCE: The 2013 Dance Intensive is Now Closed. The KSU Summer Dance Intensive provides high school students the opportunity to experience technical and artistic growth in an environment that fosters creativity and learning. Students will take classes in modern, ballet, African and jazz techniques as well as experience theory classes in dance history and kinesiology. The Faculty will set choreographic repertory that will be performed by the students in a concert at the end of the Intensive.
MUSIC: The Summer Music Intensives provide young musicians with a comprehensive, enriching and challenging musical experience. Students will spend the week in small group, large group, and individual settings, culminating in a final performance. Three different Intensives will be offered: Piano, Band and Orchestra, and Classical and Jazz Guitar.
MUSICAL THEATRE: The 2013 Musical Theatre Intensive is Now Closed. The Musical Theatre Intensive is offered to high school students who are serious about honing the necessary skills to perform in musical theatre on the collegiate level. KSU faculty and local professionals will lead acting, dance, and vocal skills workshops. The weeklong sessions will culminate in a musical theatre presentation performed by the workshop participants.
