11th Congressional District Code of Campaign Conduct

Honesty and Fairness

I will present my record and that of my opponent accurately. I will not use any campaign material that distorts or falsifies the facts regarding my opponent.

I will emphasize my views, beliefs, experiences and record and the differences between them and the views, beliefs, experiences and record of my opponent. Because I am committed to an open and public discussion of issues, I will present my record with sincerity and criticize without fear and without malice the record and policies of my opponent that merit such criticism.

I will avoid unfair personal attacks on my opponent that are not relative to the responsibilities of the office which I am seeking.

Responsibility

I will run my campaign in a manner that is issue oriented in order to educate the Georgia voter and to help improve the quality of the dialogue about public policy.

I will not condone outside party advertising that does not meet the principles contained in this document, whether designed to benefit me or harm my opponents. If such practices are used by outside parties, I will repudiate them immediately and publicly.

I am committed to sincere, open and public discussion of the issues in public, non-partisan debates. I will insist that the organizers of such debates give equal input to my opponent concerning the arrangements of such debates.

I will ensure that my campaign staff observes the principles outlined herein.

Respect

I will be mindful of the fact that the campaign process is fundamental to representative democracy and that my behavior in the campaign affects the integrity of Georgia's political process.

Signed this day, October 16, 2002.

Phil Gingrey, Candidate, 11th Congressional District of Georgia
