Featuring: Rob Nolen, BS
Manager, Auxiliary Services and Programs
by Faye Silverman
In June 2008, Rob decided to make the move from Residence Life, where he had been employed for three years during his undergraduate studies, to Auxiliary Services & Programs. His initial position as Marketing Manager with ASaP quickly grew to include a heavy focus on the finer details of creating a meal plan program, and much of Rob’s first semester with ASaP was spent doing research, conducting presentations, and developing the meal plan contract, rules, regulations, and processes. Since last summer, he also has had the pleasure of presenting information on the mandatory meal plan program at parent orientations; a role that will continue in 2009. In his spare time, he has created and managed the content on the website pages for all the ASaP groups and makes sure that all emails to the Culinary Services address are answered. In April, he officially became the Meal Plan Manager for the program that will begin with the opening of The Commons – Student Culinary Center in August.
To be honest, we’re not quite sure if Rob has slept since he started working with us in June.
Rob received his B.S. in Psychology from KSU, and his interests include learning and development, as well as the relationship between emotion and memory. In his free time, Rob enjoys singing and playing both the piano and guitar (he even tried out for American Idol a few years back). Rob has been a lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves and never passes up the opportunity to catch a game at Turner Field. Starting in 2004, Rob was a volunteer for the Chick-fil-A Bowl. This last year, he served as the co-chair for the Bowl parade on New Year’s Eve Day. He intends to continue his work with this event.
Rob has been a refreshing, energetic addition to the ASaP team. He has taken on every new challenge with a positive attitude and a smile. His contributions really are too great to itemize. For us, we could not be more impressed and pleased and we look forward to seeing what he’ll master next.
By the way, the only complaint we have is that he’s proved to not really be a team player. He refuses to participate in the ASaP tradition of Hawaiian shirt Friday. Get with the program, Rob!!!
