Featuring: Ly Eilering, BBA, MBA, CPA
Assistant Director, Reporting & Compliance
by Casi Wulff
Ly (pronounced Lee) has been the new Assistant Director of Reporting & Compliance since May of this year. She holds a BBA in Accounting and an MBA, both from KSU, and became a CPA in 2007. So when she accepted the position here at KSU it was kind of like coming home. Ly has a variety of accounting experience. After graduating she worked for the law firm of King & Spalding for seven years as a senior accountant. She was known for making many process improvements and was definitely missed when she decided to move on to the world of internal audit. She worked for a short time at Cobb County Schools as an internal auditor before taking a job with Mohawk industries in their internal audit department where she focused on SOX (Sarbanes Oxley) documentation and audit preparation.
In her role as Assistant Director of Reporting and Compliance, Ly supervises the general ledger process as well as capital assets, agency accounts and account reconciliations. She was a tremendous help during the year-end close process and dug right in to get things done. Starting your career in Business Services right before year-end is not the easiest endeavor for anyone; however, Ly came through it gracefully and we are very pleased to have her as a colleague.
Ly was born in Cambodia. Her family came to the United States when she was three. She lived in New Orleans until she was eight and then moved to Stone Mountain. She was only there a short while before moving to Kennesaw and she has been in this area ever since. Ly likes to watch cooking shows and the DIY (Do It Yourself) network. She says she is hoping to find inspiration for projects at her new home in Woodstock. She shares that home with her husband Brian and their two children Ellis, who is six and Graham who is two. Ellis just started kindergarten this year.
Ly has some diverse interests. For the past two years Ly has walked in the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. Last year she walked the entire 30 miles. She is also learning Spanish using KSU’s Rosetta Stone, although she already speaks two languages. And you can also find her at restaurants with authentic cuisine. Her favorite Dim Sum restaurant is the Canton House on Buford Highway.
