Marketplace
by Stephen Evans
Last week, Cathy Bradford approached Marketplace with the opportunity to host online registration for the Greg Mortensen event at KSU. The book Three Cups of Tea is mandatory for all first year students, and the event already had 300+ students pre-registered. Marketplace, as the primary vehicle for off-campus registration, went right to work putting a site together within hours of the request. We have already confirmed 374 people in the last 12 days, and expect 700 more in the upcoming days.

Currently the parking decals that are accepted in any Faculty/Staff reserved space are: Town Point, Bank Deck, Reserved and Zone 1. Even though the Zone 1 decal has an expiration date of August 31, 2008, it is still a valid decal. In fact all these decals will all be valid until further notice, as we are awaiting the arrival of proximity hang tags. Keep reading those e-mails from Parking Operations for further updates!

In August, the Card Services Center took over the student portion of KSU Rides. Using an entirely online application, and allowing a two (2) week period for registration; we received 100 applications from carpool teams of two (2) or more participants. So far, the first 80 of these teams have been approved for carpool hangtags, and 75 of them have picked up theirs by September 12, 2008. Think there’s a need for more carpool spaces? The deadline for applications was August 29th, 2008, but just in case there was a lack of participation, the application site remained open for late registrants. Due to carpool space constraints, we limited the hangtag allocation to 80, but over 150 student carpool teams have signed up to date! Overall, we are pleased to announce the student carpool online registration system was a huge success, and we’re looking forward to next semester.
