"Email communication is not a secure nor dependable medium for transmitting personal information. To endure that your concerns are addressed, please call or come by the CAPS Center to schedule an appointment."

Welcome to the CAPS Center's Advising webpage. Our advising is for Undeclared Majors and Learning Support Students. It is designed to assist students in making course decisions about their upcoming semestser, and a whole lot more. The CAPS Advising Program is an award-winning advising program recognized internationally, nationally and locally by the National Academic Advising Association, the Georgia Board of Regents and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. CAPS Advising is a part of the multi-level advising effort KSU has prepared to guide students from entrance into the university to the day they graduate. I hope your advising experience is a positive one.

Sincerely,   Dr Bob Mattox, Director of CAPS

Undeclared / Exploratory students are students who are "undecided" or have "not declared" a program of study (ie. chosen a major), and/or are in Learning Support courses. Our advisors help these students

(1) With questions about the university,
(2) Select courses for registration,
(3) Adjust to Kennesaw State University,
(4) Meet with a CAPS Counselor to select an academic program of study

Advisement is done on an appointment basis and/or a walk-in basis. Appointments can be made and walk-in hours can be found by calling the CAPS Center at 770.423.6600. Our advisors can also be reached by e-mail (for questions about grade point averages, test results, class grades, etc. please contact the CAPS Center for an advising appointment).

For KSU Distance and Online Learners, Academic Advisors are available via email and phone. Mental Health Counselors are also available for phone or email consultations. A consultation is not counseling and if it is determined that further services are needed, students will be encouraged to make an appointment to come to the office to meet with a counselor in person.

Their advice about the appropriate courses to complete at KSU is based on the University-Wide Degree Requirements as outlined in the http://www.kennesaw.edu/academicaffairs/acadpubs/UCATINDX.html/ KSU Undergraduate Catalog. The undergraduate catalog is the most important university handbook and is critical to a student's success as it contains information regarding degree requirements, university policies and procedures, course descriptions and much more.
