Creating opportunities and development of women leaders

Vision:

IAWL is a global catalyst for innovative programs in support of women’s leadership and health in the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia.

Mission:

The academy’s mission is twofold: 1) to enable women globally to become leaders in their communities; and 2) to close the development gap in the areas of economics, health, education and political participation, in support of United Nations Millennium Development Goals. By bringing KSU experience to bear, the academy focuses on creating positive, meaningful impact in local communities by working through local organizations to identify and apply innovative problem solving in a manner that respects and preserves culturally distinctive values.  Our geographic focus is the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia.

Core Values:

  • Leadership:  to motivate women in the target regions to act towards achieving economic empowerment and a better life for all.
  • Innovation:  to foster innovative socially conscience entrepreneurs in the areas of business and health.
  • Inspiration:  to inspire women to take an active role in shaping their countries’ social future.
  • Collaboration:  to cultivate partnerships to ensure greater positive social impact.
  • Courage:  to overcome obstacles on the road to success in achieving the Academy’s mission.
  • Commitment: to advance the social empowerment of women in the target regions while also enhancing the image of women in developing countries globally.
  • Transparency/Measurable Impact:  to share with our donors how their contributions are enabling IAWLH to achieve its mission.

Objectives:

  1. Enhancing the image of women in target regions globally by celebrating their success in breaking the glass ceiling as they become engaged global citizens.
  2. Empowering women by identifying and removing obstacles which hinder women from becoming productive global citizens.
  3. Commitment to innovation in using diverse educational avenues to cultivate and empower women leaders in the areas of economics, health and education.
  4. Adopting innovative future-oriented approaches to problem-solving in local communities in the region served.
  5. Developing a global alliance of strategic partners, both public and private, who embrace similar or complementary missions.
  6. Conducting networking activities, conferences and workshops, to gather international participants for the exchange of ideas and latest trends in different spheres.
  7. Administering an annual award honoring commitment to advocacy on women’s issues, and applying innovative problem-solving to organizations.
  8. Providing measurable results of IAWLH goals through reporting mechanisms to our sponsors and partners.
  9. Fostering social entrepreneurship to achieve sustainability.
