B.S. in Exercise and Health Science

Internship Criteria

During a student’s last year, a formal application MUST be made for admittance into HPS 4750, Internship in Exercise and Health Science for students who select the Internship Capstone. This course is NOT required for students who select the Pre-Professional Capstone.

The deadlines are March 15 (for Fall Semester internships), September 15 (for Spring Semester internships), and January 30 (for Summer Semester internships). Failure to meet the deadlines could delay one’s internship. The following are the criteria for acceptance:

• A GPA of 2.75 in the EHS Core (HPS 3240, 3300, 3800, 3850, 4150, 4300, 4350, 4500 and HPS 4700).
• Proof of liability insurance and CPR certification.
• Portfolio evidence of 3 different outside experiences related to major with each experience being no less than 10 hours.  Students must be able to provide a positive recommendation from the sites if requested.
• Exhibited responsible, professional behavior in all classes, field experiences, and interactions with peers and faculty.
• Exhibited potential for success in the program.
