Care-Giver Process

small logo

Within this role, the nurse blends the art and science of caring to create healing environments throughout the life span, including end-of-life care. In creating healing environments, holistic health is promoted through disease and injury prevention, and health promotion, restoration, and maintenance. As a care-giver, the nurse uses the nursing process as a systematic approach to effect therapeutic nursing interventions and to meet human needs in a culturally congruent manner. The nursing process includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. In utilizing the nursing process, the nurse combines professionally learned behaviors, actions, and techniques that enable the creation of healthy, healing environments for individuals, families, groups and communities. Within the care-giver process, the ethics of care and responsibility involves moral agency, interdependence, and professional integrity.
