Is Online Learning for You?

Is Online Learning for You??

  1. Are you highly motivated? Are you self-disciplined? Do you have patience with technology? If the answer is "Yes," then online learning might be for you.
  2. To see if you possess the necessary technical skills, go to the assessment and answer a few questions. This will give you some idea if you should attempt an online course. If you have any questions after taking the Assessment, please email: jbrannan@kennesaw.edu
  3. Also check out the Frequently Asked Questions. This will also help you to decide.
  4. Important ----Online learning can be fun and very rewarding. Students often remark that it isn't easier, but they learn more by being more active in their learning. Rather than sitting for hours passively while someone lectures, the student can choose when they want to learn and is more active in his/her learning. The downside is that it takes lots of self-discipline, motivation, and more hours (15-20 per week) devoted to studying, but over a shorter period of time .
  5. Online learning is not a "correspondence type course" You will be expected to spend time--answering discussion questions, entering assignments, and/or responding to your classmates' answers. You can expect to login in at least 3-5 days a week depending course credit hours.
  6. Lastly, you need patience. When you're working with technology, expect things to go wrong!! It takes time to find out what's wrong and what needs to be done to fix it.

If these are not your strong points or you can't devote the time, then online learning may not be for you.
