Master's Programs


There are two Master's programs offered by the WellStar School of Nursing:

WellStar Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program

The WellStar Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program is a professional degree which prepares experienced registered nurses to sit for certification as a family or adult nurse practitioner.  Responding to the growing opportunities within the healthcare field, Kennesaw State University offers the Master of Science in Nursing Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program that prepares the experienced registered nurse to become a primary care nurse practitioner.  The program builds on the background of professional nurses to prepare them to function as primary care givers in the emerging collaborative world of healthcare.

MSN Advanced Care Management & Leadership Program

The MSN in Advanced Care Management and Leadership Program is comprised of three tracks, the Advanced Care Leadership Track, the Nursing Education Leadership Track, and the Health Policy Track.    

The Advanced Care Leadership Track prepares the experienced professional nurse to practice in a variety of leadership roles in the ever-changing healthcare environment while acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to manage and improve client care. 

The Nursing Education Leadership Track prepares the experienced registered nurse to practice in a variety of leadership positions in the ever-evolving world of nursing education while acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to be a highly effective nurse educator.

The Health Policy Track prepares nurse leaders for a myriad of healthcare institutions and agencies, especially for roles that are expanding in scope and intensifying in complexity related to healthcare and nursing policy. The program is available ON-LINE and takes only 15 months to complete! (Students are required to come to campus only once or twice a semester.) Plus, Health Policy students are not required to take advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology or health assessment courses!


The Advanced Care Management & Leadership Program’s Health Policy curriculum prepares nursing graduates for leadership and administrative positions in healthcare. The Master of Science in Nursing program is grounded in clinical practice, guided by healthcare theory and research. Graduates will be prepared to apply for specific certification offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The on-line/web enhanced program is perfect for those aspiring nurse executives and future nursing leaders!

 

 

Board of Regents Announces Premium Pricing for KSU’s NP Program

Effective July 1, 2009, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has approved Premium Pricing for the WellStar Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program.

This pricing affects only the Nurse Practitioner Program and includes new premium features that enrich the student’s education with a variety of resources and advanced nursing experiences. Effective with Fall Semester 2009’s cohort, the cost of the program will be $3,788 per semester over four semesters for a $15,152 total. This tuition includes increases in in-state graduate tuition; mandatory student fees; parking permit; and program enhancements and other premium features, including a PDA and its appropriate software; malpractice insurance premiums, drug screen and background check associated with requirements by the University for clinical experiences; pre-Boards prep course; certification exam; orientation and customized program advisement and clinical placement.

NOTE: Books and lab fees are not included in the cost of the program.
