Dr. Vanessa Robinson-Dooley, MPA, LCSW is an Assistant Professor of Social Work in the Department of Social Work and Human Services at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Vanessa Robinson-Dooley received her BA in Political Science from Spelman College. She also holds a Masters degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Drake University. Dr. Robinson-Dooley also received her MSW and Ph.D. in Social Work from The University of Georgia. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Work in the state of Georgia.
Her direct practice experience includes individual and family therapy, group work, and assessments. Dr. Robinson-Dooley has also worked in the area of domestic violence, overseeing programs that included batterer's intervention, shelters for women and children, and education/training services. She is also the founding Executive Director of the Agape Community Center, a community development organization dedicated to the provision of programs (youth, adult, and aging) and social services to target communities in Atlanta. She has presented at state and national conferences on the areas of direct practice, cultural competence, aging and social work education.
Dr. Robinson-Dooley’s research areas include chronic disease and mental health (impact and management), aging issues and African Americans, and cultural competence. Dr. Robinson-Dooley teaches in both the MSW and Human Services degree programs. Her MSW courses include Family Therapy and Advanced Clinical Practice: Working with Groups. Her undergraduate courses include Aging & the Family, Cultural Competence, and Research Methods.
Dr. Robinson-Dooley is also one of the clinical faculty members at the KSU Clinic at MUST Ministries where she supervises student interns from both programs and provides clinical and case management services to the community.
