Center for Latin American and Iberian Studies    

The Center for Latin American and Iberian Studies promotes KSU academic programs that bring understanding of the diversity of Latin American and Iberian Societies. These programs are offered in the following colleges and departments:
  • The College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Cultural and Regional Studies offers a minor in Latin American Studies; the Department of Foreign Languages offers a minor in Spanish, a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Language and Culture (Spanish),and a Master of Arts in Teaching Foreign Languages; the Department of Political Science and International Affairs offers a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs with a Spanish concentration and a Master of Arts in International Affairs.
  • The Coles College of Business, the college offers May and summer study abroad programs in Latin America and Spain.
           

The Center supports two programs for students:

  • Student Ambassador Program sponsored by the Trade Commission
    (Embassy of Spain). This program supports students in their learning of Spanish by offering an award for the national winner. This award is an all-paid  trip to Spain for 17 days.

  • Conversation Assistant sponsored by the Ministry of Education of Spain. It offers a stay in various Spanish universities with a monthly stipend close to $ 1,000.00 for 12 hours of work per week assisting students who are learning English.
