DESCRIPTION:
The Clendenin Graduate Fellows Scholarship Committee will award three or more scholarships per year to successful applicants enrolling in a masters or doctoral degree program of study at an accredited educational institution.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Full time student in a Masters or Ph.D level graduate studies program at an accredited institution
- Ph.D level who are ABD status and are ACTIVELY completing dissertation/OR accepted and starting in a Ph.D. program
- Clear educational and career goals, achievement, leadership potential, passion for learning and leadership
- All disciplines of study
- Applicants who have completed some or all undergraduate coursework at KSU will be given preference
- Financial circumstances will be taken into consideration by the Scholarship Committee
- Clendenin Fellows may be required to teach on campus for a minimum of two years, if invited upon completion of their program as a gesture of “giving back.”

- Section 1 General Information (to be completed and signed by applicant)
- Section II Institutional Endorsement (completed and signed by dean or department head)
- Section III, Preliminary proposed research proposal (intended area of focus)
- Section IV, Essay (typed and signed by applicant)
- Section V, Financial Statement (typed and signed by applicant)
- Section VI, Official transcript, Resume, 3 letters of recommendation

EVALUATION AND AWARD PROCESS
1. Fellowship recipients are chosen by the Clendenin Graduate Fellows Selection Committee
2. Interviews will be held for top candidates being considered
3. Selected applicants will be notified of the Clendenin Graduate Fellows Selection Committee’s decision in writing no later than June 1
4. Chosen recipients must provide proof of enrollment in a masters/Ph.D degree program for the academic year before a check will be credited to their student account, and is expected to remain enrolled as a full time student for the entire academic year. Any overage of funds in the account will be credited to the student for other educational and living expenses.
