Since Spring of 2002,
Alpha Beta Tau has volunteered to help out
the recently graduated Bro. Jason Thomas at his school Argyle
Elementary. Bro. Thomas taught fifth graders and initiated an
after school program. The program was started to help the young
men build up their confidence as well as showing respect for women
and themselves. These weren't the only goals of the program, as
the children were able to play a wide range of team sports every
week. The chapter brother helped maintain this program as acted as
positive roles models for those children coming from impoverished
homes. Some children had never played baseball or football, but
now have a chance to learn teamwork and leadership from older
responsible brother. It is safe to say that these kids will always
remember this program throughout their life and will hopefully
continue to teach others as they grow older.
