Career Development
Career preparation is a large part of the education students receive while enrolled in the Academy. There are multiple components of Career Development including:
- Job Shadowing: Students observe multiple job-sites on campus and participate in career exploration activities such as interest inventories, career research and Person Centered Planning
- Person Centered Planning: Students set goals and create a visual PATH to success while identifying available resources and supports
- Job Readiness Training: Students develop appropriate work behaviors while training in on-campus departments.
- Career Development: Students participate in on-campus skills training as well as necessary job search skills such as resume writing or practice interviews. Students meet weekly to discuss issues and receive training about specific skills or social development.
When the student is ready, Academy staff will assist them in developing employment opportunities in the community.
